Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism and Member for Barron River Steve Wettenhall is urging everyone to get behind two of the Tropical North's popular tourist icons. Paronella Park and Undara Lava Tubes and Volcanic National Park are two of the three Queensland locations shortlisted in the Google Maps Australia virtual tour competition. "People only have until Sunday to cast their vote," Mr Wettenhall said. "If they get enough votes these locations will then be visited by the Google Trike and be uploaded for all to see. "To be able to jump online from anywhere in the world and take a virtual tour of these two attractions would be a great coup for the region. "It means when people are planning their holiday to Australia from interstate or overseas they can get a better idea of the types of attractions available to them. "If they can take a virtual tour through Paronella Park or the Lava tubes, this might just be the selling point we're after to entice them to the Tropical North. Mr Wettenhall said Paronella Park which is situated about one hundred kilometers south of Cairns is a ‘must do' experience when visiting the Tropical North. "Paronella Park has gone from strength to strength after many setbacks including Cyclone Larry and is even up for a national award next weekend at the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards. "And anyone who hasn't had the Undara experience should do themselves a favour and get out there." The other Queensland attraction shortlisted is Hamilton Island. Cast your vote here:
