More than $153,000 will be provided to Barron River community groups in the latest round of Queensland Government gaming grants
Steve Wettenhall, today announced the latest round of Gambling Community Benefit Fund (GCBF) and Reef Hotel Casino Community Benefit Fund (RHCCBF) recipients, saying the money will help meet the ongoing demand for community services. "The people behind the organisations face a daily challenge of meeting the needs of their local area and always do this with a smile," said Mr Wettenhall. "These government grants will hopefully broaden their smiles while continuing to help fulfil the needs of Queenslanders." These Benefit Fund use a percentage of state revenue raised from gaming activities to offer grants of up to $35 000 to assist community organisations in Queensland. Last year the Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation (OLGR) introduced an online grants management system, which allows community groups and not-for-profit organisations apply for funding via its website. "The new process is part of our efforts to reduce red-tape, and it's been working well," said Mr Wettenhall. Community groups and not for profit organisations can now apply for solar sport and community group grants through the Gambling Community Benefit Fund. To apply for community benefit fund grants, visit the OLGR website at www.olgr.qld.gov.au and click on grants.
