A happy New Year for Barron River community groups

Aust_Working_DogsBarron River community groups will get a kick start for the New Year, with local community groups sharing in over $125,000.00 in State Government grants.

Member for Barron River Steve Wettenhall said 6 local organisations would receive a financial helping hand from the Gambling Community Benefit Fund and the Reef Hotel Casino Community Benefit Fund.

"Thanks to these grants, Barron River community groups can rest easy knowing they can fund important projects in the New Year.

"The grants go to organisations that play a vital role in the Barron River community, including sporting clubs, volunteer groups, not-for-profit organisations, surf life saving clubs and kindergarten associations.

The following Barron River organisations will receive financial assistance:

• Ivanhoes Football & Recreation Club - $16,648.00

• Marlin Coast Rangers Soccer - $44,504.00 (combined)

• Ellis Beach Surf Lifesaving - $28,409.00

• Trinity Beach Community Kindergarten - $18,182.00

• Buchans Point SES - $12,796.73

• Australian Working Dog Rescue - $4,750.00

"These community groups provide Barron River locals with a host of recreational services and facilities and are on hand to provide emotional and financial support to residents in tough situations.

"I'm sure these grants will be particularly welcome at the end of what has been a difficult year for much of our State following severe natural disasters.

"This is just one of the ways the State Government returns taxes from gambling activities to the Barron River community.

"By redistributing gambling taxes through grant programs, the funds play an important role in ensuring Barron River and the whole State benefits from gambling in Queensland."
