| Community funding boost in tough times |

During these tough economic times, the Queensland Government is happy to provide some relief to local community groups, struggling to offer services and support for their local neighbourhood.

"In these trying times it is important to remember and celebrate the hard work of our community workers. "The Gambling Community Benefit Fund allows the government to support the important work of not-for-profit organisations by enhancing services, leisure activities and opportunities through grant funding." In the latest funding round, Barron River received more than $78,500 through the Gambling Community Benefit Fund. The Gambling Community Benefit Fund provides one-off grants of up to $30,000 to not-for-profit organisations throughout Queensland. Applications for more than $30,000 may be considered if it is envisaged that the project will be one of substantial benefit. Not-for-profit organisations have been provided with more than $414 million since the fund was launched, helping Queensland community groups implement over 34,800 necessary and enriching projects. More than $12 million dollars has been provided for more than 630 projects across Queensland in this funding round. Grant allocations are announced quarterly and applications are accepted at any time.
