The electorate of Barron River, along with all Queensland electorates has recently undergone a re-distribution.
While a small portion of Edge Hill goes into the Cairns electorate, Barron River is happy to receive the suburbs of Clifton Beach, Palm Cove, Ellis Beach and to the west Koah and Mona Mona into the electorate. Barron River will now have an estimated enrolment of 35,750 people. Created in the 1972 redistribution, Barron River is represented by the Labor Party's Steve Wettenhall.
